Shawal Tariq, MSN, FNP-C

Shawal Tariq MSN, FNP-C brings a passion for heart health and a deep commitment to serving the diverse, resilient community of Northern Virginia-a place she’s proud to call home. Shawal earned her bachelor degrees in both Nursing and Neuroscience from George Mason University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She went on to care for some of the region’s most critically ill patients as a Cardiac ICU RN at Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she earned her CCRN certification and gained firsthand experience in mechanical circulatory support devices, arrhythmias, and critical-care interventions.
Motivated by a desire to expand her role in prevention and long-term patient care, she earned her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Georgetown University. Cardiology called to her because she sees the heart as more than a vital organ, it’s where stories of strength, resilience, and hope meet science. She believes in guiding patients not only through acute care but also helping them live healthier, stronger and fulfilling lives.
Shawal brings a curious and compassionate spirit to both her personal and professional life. Outside of work Shawal enjoys spending time with family, exploring new restaurants, and staying active-reminding herself daily of the importance of heart health in everyday life. She believes that heart health starts with how we live each day, and she strives to bring that same balance, curiosity, and energy into the care she provides to her patients.
